North Shore Nursery School is a not-for-profit cooperative school founded in 1961. Originally housed in the Unitarian Universalist Church, the school moved into the Community Reformed Church in Manhasset in June of 1993. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed or national and ethnic origin.

We are chartered by the Department of Education and hold a Certificate of Voluntary Registration from the State of New York. All of our head teachers are NYS certified. All of our assistants hold degrees in Education as well. Our staff is experienced, mature and most of all committed to meeting the needs of all our children. We are dedicated to promoting the highest quality in early childhood education.

STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY

At North Shore Nursery School an atmosphere is provided where children can grow in a relaxed and nurturing environment. An abundance of creative materials and age-appropriate experiences are provided to foster cognitive as well as social skills. Children learn to feel good about themselves, to work and play with peers, to accept limits and to develop positive attitudes toward the school experience.

Parent education with respect to the needs, motivations and growth patterns of children through conferences, programs, and guided participation in the classroom is an integral part of the school.
