TIMES AND DAYS


AGE GROUPS, CLASS SIZE, STAFFING

The school encompasses three age groups, two, three and four year old classes. Children must be the appropriate age by December 1st of the school year in which they enter the program to be eligible for enrollment.

Learning through Play Group (2 year olds - separation) groups are 10-12 children, each center on providing a secure, safe and comfortable environment where young children can learn to separate from their parent under the care and guidance of experienced, mature teachers who are trained to ease the process for parent as well as child. Learning Two-Gether (2 year olds) groups are 10-12 children, each with a parent. A qualified, experienced teacher leads the group. A music teacher conducts a thirty minute music class during the session. There is no separation in this program. Two year olds accompanied by a parent or caregiver enjoy an introduction to school in a nurturing supportive atmosphere. This class includes art, stories, snack, and play. Three and four year old classes are 13-16 children. Two teachers, a certified head teacher, and an experienced assistant teacher, as well as one parent, work with each group. A music specialist teaches each class one day per week for a thirty-minute session.

 

2's, 3's and Pre-K Curriculum

In keeping with nature's timetable, developmentally appropriate fun experiences are provided in a play oriented atmosphere in order to foster a love of learning.

  • Socialization - all areas of learning encourage building positive self esteem and good relationships with others
  • Language Arts - a print rich environment including letters, rhyming, stories, games, discussions and dramatic play
  • Math - counting, calendar, numbers, blocks, sorting, graphing, weight and measure
  • Science - seasons, weather, magnets, floating, sinking, measuring, health and nutrition, cooking activities
  • Music - weekly music and movement lesson with music specialists as well as daily music
  • Art - experiences include paint, play dough, cutting and pasting with emphasis on free expression and creativity
  • Crafts - to enhance a particular concept, develop a skill or reinforce learning
  • Manipulatives - for small motor development and cooperative play
  • Outdoor play - for large motor development and socialization. New State of the art playground.
